Community guidelines

The five promises

Everyone accepts these in the app before their first post.

1. Be kind. Cheer, listen and encourage. No judgement on anyone’s path or pace. Quitting, cutting down and tapering are all welcome here.
2. Leave medical advice to doctors. Share what helped you. For health questions, point people to a professional.
3. No selling. No ads, products, links to buy, or recruiting. This is a place to belong.
4. Protect privacy. Keep the names, faces and places of other people out. What is shared here stays here.
5. Report what worries you. If something feels unsafe, report it. Reports go to our team.

What is not allowed

• Harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, or shaming anyone for a slip.
• Encouraging anyone to drink, use, gamble or relapse, or making substance use look appealing.
• Telling people how to get, make or hide substances, and any dosing instructions.
• Medical advice presented as fact, including advice to stop medication or to detox without medical support.
• Descriptions of suicide or self harm methods, or content that encourages them.
• Sexual content, nudity, graphic violence, or anything involving minors.
• Sharing someone else’s personal details, private messages or photos without their permission.
• Spam, scams, fundraising, promotion of paid services, and pretending to be someone else or to be SoberChamp staff.
• Anything illegal.

If someone is in crisis

If a post suggests someone may be in danger, report it so our team sees it quickly, and encourage them to contact local emergency services or a helpline. You are not expected to carry it alone. See safety and crisis help.

Your privacy in the Circle

• You post under a handle, never your name.
• Nobody sees your day count unless you choose to share it.
• When you report someone, they are never told who reported.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

• Report. Every post, reply and profile can be reported from its menu.
• Block. Blocking a member hides their content from you and yours from them.
• Filters. Automated checks screen posts for content that breaks these guidelines and may hold a post back until a person on our team has looked at it.
• What we may do. Remove content, pause posting for a time, or close an account. Serious harm, such as threats or content involving minors, leads to immediate removal and may be reported to the authorities.
• Appeals. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@soberchamp.com and a person will look again.

Groups

The Circle guidelines apply in every group. Group creators can add their own rules on top, but not remove these.

Adults only

The Circle is for people aged 18 and over.
